Benefits
Water used regularly for drinking, cooking, cleaning, showering, watering plants all the way to large scale industrial uses in all facets of our lives is not free from impurities and can impact our bodies and quality of life negatively. Chemicals used to clean our water eventually flow into our water systems, negatively impacting the environment.
People suffering from hard water do not realize the many direct and indirect costs associated with it. The Financial repercussions and wasted natural resources are overlooked. Opportunities for VWP are presented to anyone with lime scale problems and any other problems on the Common Water Problems page.
Lime Scale is one of the largest causes of wasted energy in the world. Scale build up dramatically increases the energy cost for operating water heaters, boilers, heat exchangers and plumbing systems in homes, commercial businesses and industry. Effects of lime scale are so pervasive it is difficult to accurately gage the costs from the problems created, however a conservative low estimate is in excess of 100 billion dollars in the US alone.
Gas Heaters – tested on hard water consumed 29.57% more BTU’s of energy than those tested on softened water for the same amount of energy delivered. Scale formed at the bottom of water heaters or boilers near the flame prevent the flame from directly heating the water tank. It heats the calcium deposit first, then the calcium heats the water. Studies show that ¼ inch of scale increases the fuel consumption by as much as 40%. One inch of scale build up results in 95% reduction in heat transfer.
Electric Water Heaters – operated and tested on hard water consumed 21.68% more BTU’s of energy than those tested on soft water with the same amount of energy delivered.
Plumbing & Pumps – The American Society of Plumbing Engineers states that, 1/16 inch of scale increases energy consumption by 11%. Lime scale build up inside pipes, pumps and radiators, cause greater resistance to the flow of water through the plumbing and heating system.
This added resistance forces the pump to work harder in order to maintain water flow. The end result is higher consumption of electrical power to operate the pump and shortened life span of the pump itself.
The Costs of Hard Water
The economic costs are both direct and indirect. For example, radiators clogged with scale do not transfer heat well and consume more energy. Energy costs for operation of appliances, hot water heaters, boilers and pumping equipment are significantly increased. The amount of cleaners, soaps and chemicals used for cleaning scale from drains adds to maintenance costs. Other costs of lime scale are more deductive and taken for granted. These include regular maintenance costs and replacement of all appliances that use water. From coffee makers, ice machines, water heaters, dishwashers to hot water boilers used for heating, the costs due to lime scale deposits are high.
A typical commercial establishment (like a restaurant) that uses hard water, costs about $810 per month to heat the water (based on $27 per day to heat 2,900 gallons).
Water softening can save them as much as 30 percent in energy. – cost savings equals $243 per month or $2916 annually. Water softeners can also save up to 35 percent on detergent costs and up to 25 percent on downtime for equipment and maintenance repairs. Softer water extends equipment life span leading to less scrap disposal.
ER Ratings - Energy ratings listed on water heaters, boilers, dishwashers, etc. are misleading because
they show the energy costs for one year. The dollar amounts referred to are for brand new units without
calcium deposit build up. These numbers can be doubled in as little as six months depending on the
calcium content in the water.

Environment
Carbon dioxide is the end result of energy use. The current concern over climate change indicates that regulations will more and more be instituted around CO2 releases into the atmosphere. The more efficiently we use energy, the less carbon dioxide generated. Additionally, the reduced dependence on strong chemicals such as lime scale dissolvers and drain cleaners will further ease the pollution level of our water supplies.
The VWP water processor is environmentally-friendly. VWP has no running costs, chemicals or additives necessary to run it. VWP has no replacement parts and/or waste. It is estimated that VWP will last 250+years. Each unit can be installed without the cost of a plumber.
VWP prevents lime scaling, removes calcium deposits, creates a soft and silky water, minimizes
chemicals, needs no maintenance and running costs, eliminates bad taste and odor, reduces
bacteria and balances the PH of water. VWP allows soft water to retain vital minerals which has
numerous benefits for you and your environment.
Other Benefits:
Softer Skin and Healthier Looking Hair.
When water is softened, shampoo and conditioners, lather more and work better creating softer hair and skin. This results in less usage, less chemicals flowing through the water system and the environment.
Brighter Softer Clothes
Stains from iron and other metals on clothes disappear and clothes become softer when hard calcium is eliminated. The use of chemical bleach becomes unnecessary. Better Tasting and Smelling Water. The oxidation process reduces impurities, eliminates odors and bad taste from water: providing better drinking water.
Less Detergent Use
For every grain of hardness, 2-4% more detergent is used. Soft water gives a 50% savings on detergents and chemicals once again decreasing the amount of chemicals released into the water system.
Cleaner Dishes
Calcium oxide is crystallized leaving dishes cleaner with less spotting.
Healthier Lawns and Plants
The intensified oxygenation and smaller softer forms of calcium help to increase plants intake of nutrients, giving plants larger healthier root systems, augmenting their ability to withstand virus attacks.
Lower Energy Costs
VWP reduces scaling in boilers by 99%, This lowers energy costs because scale build up has an insulating effect that reduces the elements ability to heat up water. Cleaner pipes and heaters result in better performance, becoming more energy efficient.
Ease of Installation
VWP can be installed without a plumber. There is no need to cut pipes, just clamp on the pipe and tighten one screw! Once installed, there is no need for replacement parts, no need to change or update.
No Running Costs
The VWP water processor does not require power, chemicals or additives, filters or maintenance and has no moving parts.
Opportunities Presented
by the Common Water Problems page, for anyone using water related appliances and machines like gas heaters, electric water heaters, plumbing and pumps etc. is enormously advantageous for VWP’s commercialization process. Every problem presented provides a major opportunity and is addressed directly by the VWP water processor. The installation of VWP has no negative impact on the environment and the effects of using VWP provides nothing but beneficial advantages to the environment for the life span of the products the VWP is installed on.
Disadvantages of Using Other Water Purification Systems over VWP:
Salt Conditioners:
It has been discovered that salt-based systems pollute the fresh groundwater supply during the back-washing or regeneration process. Many communities in the USA (primarily California) have banned salt-based or automatic water softeners. The disadvantage to consumers is that they are costly and require extensive maintenance. VWP lowers sodium.
Reverse Osmosis:
Creates ultra-clean water which is sterile and missing minerals and useful trace elements normally found in healthy living water. Expensive membranes need to be changed on a regular basis. On the other hand, VWP creates a self-cleaning water that retains essential mineral and elements, which are nutritionally healthier for humans, animals, fish and plants.
Filtration Systems:
Must be changed often to reduce the risk of bacteria growth and microorganisms. Otherwise, water consumed may become of lesser quality than prior to filtration. Replacement of filters is an ongoing process and in the long run, raises the total cost and used filters need to be disposed. VWP has no running costs other than the original price of the processor. No maintenance, replacement parts, no waste products.
Electromagnetic Softeners:
These electrical devices require power usage, adding to the running costs and will stop working, without power. They are primarily effective with calcium related problems and do not address the rest of the common water problems described previously. VWP doesn’t require power usage and is more effective in lime scale removal, bacteria reduction and oxygenates the water.
